Restrictions to make credit card payments least popular at legal US online casinos

It is believed that credit cards would be the least popular mode for making payment to online casinos, especially if it is issued by US Banks. This is mainly due to the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act).

Generally, you would find that several online casinos block US credit cards automatically for the legal issues. However, there are few leading online casinos, where credit cards issued by US banks are accepted. The transactions are processed there using those cards without any issues.

Now, since internet gambling is legalized in Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey, US players are going to look forward to use their credit cards for making payments. This desperation is one of the reasons, why VISA, one of the associations that support several cards issued in the country, has issued a warning to its processors and issuers. It has told them that the association’s Internet Gambling STIP (Stand-In Processing) Blocking Service will not be treating all the payments made into the gambling account in the same manner.

VISA’s system is capable enough to differentiate legitimate and illegal online payments. The system works together with the MVV (Merchant Verification Value) Registration Program to identify the legitimacy. The most important requirement of the program is for the internet casino to submit the proofs, which are going to assure that they are operating legally.

Apart from proving the legality, there would be a need to pay a registration fee of USD 5,000 for the online casino, if they are looking to provide credit card payment method.
